How to Respec your Character in Divinity: Original Sin 2

You can Respec, or reset and customize your character and party members in Divinity: Original Sin 2 by using the Magic Mirror. There is a magic mirror found on your ship, the Lady Vengeance. As of the gift bag #2 update from Larian Studios there was is another magic mirror to be found below the kitchen in the Fort Joy arena, at the beginning of the game.


How to use the Magic Mirror

Using the Magic Mirror in Divinity Original Sin 2 to respec your character is pretty straightforward. Once you have found a mirror and decided which character you are going to change, simply select the character and click on the mirror using the left mouse button. Alternatively use the right click and select, ‘Use’ from the menu.

Once you have chosen to use the magic mirror you will be transported to the customization menu for whichever character you had selected. This is very similar to the first menu of the game where you could design your character. You can change almost any aspect of your character from this menu, including respecing your skills. Note that you cannot change the race of your character ay any point after the initial customization in the game.

Once you’ve reached the customization menu, make the changes you wish and select the accept button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.


Where to respec your character in Divinity: Original Sin 2

There are 2 locations where you can find the magic mirror item in Divinity Original Sin 2. We will talk about how to get to both of these locations in the game including where they can be found on the map. One of the locations is in the base game and apart from just progressing through the game to unlock it, you won’t have to do anything else. The second magic mirror you will have to enable in the pause menu of the game.

Magic Mirror Location 1: Aboard the Lady Vengeance

Once you get to a certain point in the story of the game you will find yourself aboard the ship, the Lady Vengeance. In the base game this used to be the only magic mirror location in the game.

The magic mirror is located below deck on the bottom story of the ship. Head all the way down the stairs as far as you can go and you will find the magic mirror located on the bottom level on the back of the staircase.

To find this magic mirror you will first have to enable it in the settings menu. To have this mirror avaliable in the game to change your skills follow this guide below.

Step 1: Open up the pause menu using the ESC key. once you are in the pause menu select the option Gift Bag Features.

Once you’ve opened this up you will see a list of free DLC and addons that are made by the developers of the game. These went alongside with regular updates to bring more content to the game and to change how some of the mechanics work. Once you are in the Gift Bag menu scroll down until you find the ‘Fort Joy Magic Mirror’ item.

Make sure to activate this item and see if there are any other addons you wish to enable as well. Once you have enabled the Fort Joy Magic Mirror head to the kitchen area of Fort Joy. Once you have talked to the right NPC you will be able to use the small hatch in the kitchen that will lead you down to the arena. As soon as you go down the hatch turn to the right and the Magic Mirror should be there in the corner. It is quite dark and blends into the wall so keep your eyes peeled.

Those are the two magic mirror locations in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Maybe you made a mistake and no longer want a pyro magic build and want to change into a tank instead. Now that you’ve made your way to a magic mirror you can respec all of your characters to your heart’s desire.
