How to Feed Your Horse in Myth of Empires

Now that we’ve covered how to tame your first horse, another thing that the game isn’t so great at telling you is how to feed your horse. Once you do have a tamed horse, they will continue to get hungry as the server goes on. If you’ve logged back into the game and found that your horse is down, it is probably because they didn’t have any food!

This guide will go over how to give your horse something to eat so they will survive, which types of food are available to horses and the best ways to feed them.

How to Feed Horses in Myth of Empires

Just like the NPCs you can recruit and the player character, horses will need to eat to survive in Myth of Empires. They will slowly start to get hungry as they do more activities in the game. Feeding a horse is relatively easy. You can either place food directly into the horses inventory, or build a stable and place food for the horses directly in there.

Feeding a Horse By Hand

One of the quickest and easiest ways to keep your mount healthy is just to feed it directly from the inventory screen. All you will have to do is open the horses inventory and drag a suitable food item into it for them to start eating. You can manually feed this item to them by pressing the E key on it while it is in the horse’s inventory.

Horses will automatically eat food in their inventory if they get hungry, so don’t stress about manually feeding them 100 grass every day. There are certain types of materials that horses will eat. Some of the most common include:

  • Grass: Horses will eat plain grass. While this won’t really give any extra boost, it will sate their hunger.
  • Bark: Just like the player, the horse will also eat any bark in it’s inventory when it gets hungry
  • Common Coarse Fodder: One of the best early-game foods you can give to horses. The common coarse fodder can be learnt at level 13 under the Tame & Recruit crafting recipes. This will also restore some health when eaten

Feeding Horses in the Stable

The easiest way to feed multiple horses at the same time is by giving them food directly at the stable. The stable is where you can revive horses should they fall in battle. It also doubles as a place to store them. Even if you have your horse stored at the stable, you will still have to feed them, otherwise they will starve to death and have to be revived. To feed a horse that is currently in the stable, open up the stable’s inventory by looking at it and pressing the E key.

Now that you have the stable inventory open, all you have to do is drop some food in there. Any horses stored inside the stable will automatically eat the food from the inventory of the stables. There is no need to feed them manually in here at all. It’s a good idea to keep this full at all times with as much feed as you can.
