Going in depth

A farmer outside his cottage in Stardew Valley

To save the game you will have to make your way back to the farm. When you open up the map using the M key on the keyboard, (or the appropriate button on your console), you will see a map of the entire town. Your farm is located on the left hand side of the map, above Marnie’s Ranch. You will have to navigate back to your farm in order to save the game. You will have to then go into your house as seen in the image above.

Once you are in your house/cabin, simply walk into your bed. Once you walk into the bed a message will appear on the screen asking, “Go to sleep for the night?” Selecting this option will end the current day in Stardew Valley and save the game. You will see a screen showing how much money you made through the shipping bin for that day and then once you click continue you will see a message at the bottom of the screen reading “Saving….” and after a few moments the following message: “Your progress has been saved.”.

Your progress has been saved in Stardew Valley

When you choose to load your game from the main menu you will always start from 6:00am from the last morning that you started in the game.

There are currently no other ways to save the game outside of installing mods. If you want another area on your farm that you can save the game you do have the option to go to Robin and build a new cabin that is intended for another character to use in Multiplayer. You can also sleep in this cabins’ bed to save the game, so if you have a rather large farm and want to sleep in the south-west corner for example, you could build a cabin in that area for sleeping in.
