‘Pokemon Car’ Revealed By Mini at Gamescom!

This years Gamescom held some pretty interesting suprisers for viewers. Along with a slew of new hardware and game announcements, one of the more interesting announcements from the week was a Pokemon Car collaboration with Mini.

To preface this article, the car was revealed as a concept only. We are not yet sure whether this car will ever make it to the general consumer market. Due to the extra costs of design and manufacturing of custom automobiles we doubt it will ever be avaiable for retail sale.

The Pokemon Car Concept

This Pikachu-Inspired Automobile is a concept car brought onto the stage by BMW-owned car manufacturer, Mini. The ‘Aceman’ car features your typical Mini Cooper shape with some added extras which slightly elude to it being collaborated with Pokemon. You can see the trailer and reveal for this car pokemon in the YouTube Video Embedded below.

The car features a custom dash with Pikachu on the main screen. It also has a nice overlay, as seen in the official video for the car, where you can view information about the weather and such. The images and screens over the dash also produce animated images when the car is turning on and off.

Who doesn’t want to be greeted by a Pikachu, when they jump into the car for a drive?

Even if there isn’t too much going on with the car, we have to admit the screen does look pretty neat

The car is fully electric just like Pikachu (I’m so sorry), as with the regular Aceman concept. Mini also has the regular Aceman concept (without Pokemon themed stuff all over it), as you can see on this link to their website. The car doesn’t seem to differ at all from the Pokemon-Themed version aside from the UI swap on the main dashboard.

A Car You Can Connect Your Game Console To?

During the interview at Gamescom, Oliver the presenter of the Car Pokemon Concept, elluded to the fact that gamers will be able to “connect their consoles” to the vehicle.

It seems likely that the Mini may offer a HDMI input to allow you to use the dashboard as a monitor? We can’t really see any other way that connecting a console would work with the car. It’s highly doubtful that the car would include any advanced gaming or console features to be honest.

Still, it would be cool to be able to hook up a console to the car while the vehicle is charging at one of the electric charging stations.

That seems to be all the information we have on the Car Pokemon crossover with Mini at this point in time given there wasn’t a great amount of detail in the interview at all. While gaming themed automotives are a pretty small market, we highly doubt that Mini will expand further into this vehicle. It’s probably more likely they just used it as advertising for their general concept of the Aceman.
