How to Get Sheets in Project Zomboid Build 41

Faced with thousands and thousands of zombies ready to tear you apart, you will have to do everything in your power to stop getting eaten in Project Zomboid. They can hear you, they can smell you and they can see you. One of the most important basic items for your base early on is going to be a sheet/curtain. This guide will show you how to get sheets for your windows and what you can do with them. As long as you have a door on your base, all you should need to do is cover those windows!

What are Sheets/Curtains Used For?

If you’ve already explored a lot of buildings, chances are you’ve already come across some curtains or even sheets already. There are two main uses for sheets in Project Zomboid. First, they can be used to cover up windows so the dead cannot see that is going on inside. Once you have fixed a sheet to a window, you can open and close them just like curtains. The other main use for sheets is to create makeshift bandages by ripping the sheet apart. This will give you some ‘ripped sheets’ which as aforementioned, can be used to cover injuries.

It is most preferable to keep sheets to use them to block windows. This is because ripped sheets are not difficult to obtain at all. You can rip up most clothing items to get ripped sheets.

So how do you actually get sheets in Project Zomboid? Well you find them of course. Sheets can be found as basic loot inside certain containers. The main places that you can find sheets are in bedroom wardrobes and also in bathrooms. There isn’t really any other special tips on finding sheets, just go house to house and look through every bedroom cupboard and bathroom until you come across some. They aren’t super rare so after a couple of houses you should have some luck getting some.

Sheets can often be found in bathroom cupboards

Another way to get sheets is by taking down curtains from the windows if you can see them. When you take curtains off windows they will automatically become sheets in your inventory.

How to Add Sheets to Windows

The main reason to collect sheets is so that you can use them to block the windows. It will take only one sheet to block a window. You will not need any extra items to add a sheet to a window, just the sheet.

To add a sheet to the window, right-click the window that you want to cover. Select the option Add Sheet. You character will then move to the window and put the sheet up over it. By default the sheet will be opened. You can left-click on the sheet to toggle whether it is covering the window, or rolled up.

How to Craft Sheets in Project Zomboid

With an extensive crafting system available in Project Zomboid, there must be some way to craft your own sheets for the windows right? Unfortunately not. In the current version of Project Zomboid’s early access development (Build 41) there is no way to craft your own sheets in the game. You will have to rely on some luck finding them in homes. Luckily curtains are fairly common and they can be recovered from windows to get curtains.

If you really must craft your own curtains in the game. There is also this mod available on the Steam Workshop which allows you to use a needle, thread and ripped sheets to craft your own sheets.
