How to Kick in Mount and Blade Bannerlord

In Mount and Blade: Bannerlord combat is everything. From shields and swords to spears and bows you have a large range of weapons at your disposal to best your opponent with. Your troops aren’t the only tactics you can employ in the game. You are also able to control your character and fight in battles too.

There is an advanced move in melee combat called a ‘Kick’. Much like the spear brace, this may be a combat technique most don’t use or know about. This is pretty much exactly how it sounds. Your character will kick the opponent in front of them and stun them for a short amount of time leaving them open for attack. This guide will show you how to do this.

How to Kick in Bannerlord

The Kick can be performed by the player regardless of the weapon they currently have equipped. To kick, press the E key on your keyboard by default. This can only be done when you are on foot, not on horseback. Also, you cannot kick while you have your shield raised to block any incoming hits. Instead of a kick, this will perform a shield bash instead.

The chance of success of your kick depends on where the enemy is standing. The range is rather small for kicking in Mount and Blade: Bannerlord so you will have to make sure you are standing pretty close to the target. Upon a successful hit, the enemy will take ~2 damage and will be stunned shortly allowing you to strike. leaving them temporarily defenseless.

If the E key does not perform a kick in combat, open up the ESC menu and navigate to Options. From here, go to the Keybindings tab and see which key has been assigned for the Kick/Bash action.

Making the Kick Stronger

There are a few perks which interact with the Kick action in different ways. you can unlock these perks once you reach the required level in the skill they are contained within. The perks that change the way kicking works are:

  • Strong Legs (Athletics lvl 225): Kick damage is doubled
  • Dirty Fighting (Roguery): Kicks stun for 50% longer
The Strong Legs perk will double your kick damage

Beyond the perk system there isn’t any skill which relates to kick damage in any way.
