Cryofall has officially launched on Steam. This multiplayer simulation survival game has seen a great launch with many praising the game’s unique look on the survival multiplayer genre. Many of the game’s features are akin to other survival games but the top-down perspective gives a refreshing spin on the genre. Though the building and crafting are still apparent and simple. Today we are going to have a quick look at building and rotating objects in the game.
How to Build in Cryofall
When you first start the game, you will be guided through a quick tutorial on collecting and crafting some of the most basic items. Players who have been through other survival crafting games will recognize a pretty familiar gameplay loop. You’ll start off collecting rocks and sticks to build some basic items. then, you will move onto foraging for food and learning how to sustain your character. It will take a while before your character learns to build anything but it does come up in the tutorial eventually. To build anything, you will need to craft a toolbox. With a toolbox in the inventory, you can now build anything you’ve researched. Select the build button from the top of the screen or press the build hotkey, ‘B’.
Keep in mind that before you are able to build and place any objects down you will have to research them first. Open up the research menu, which is the 5th icon from the left, or press G. From here, you will see different menus for different types of research. There are different things to build in every type of research tree. For example, the workbench is in industry, but house pieces are in the Construction menu. To build a house, you’ll want to research some of the things under construction.
How to Rotate Objects in Cryofall
Once you have built a few items you might not be happy with the way that they look. In most survival crafting games you are able to rotate objects and building pieces to the angle or position that you would like them. Unfortunately that is not the case in Cryofall. At this point in the game’s development there is no way to rotate any objects or building pieces. Unfortunately you will just have to place the items down as they appear on the construction menu. I am personally not sure if this was done to minimize the need to draw objects from certain angles, or as a style choice.
Will We Ever Be Able to Rotate Objects?
As Cryofall is in early access the game’s mechanics and content are subject to change. There is a possibility that the ability to rotate objects when building them may be added to the game. For now, players will just have to deal with the fact that they cannot rotate objects the way they’d like. If the game is to change and the option to be added, you can expect this page to be updated with the tutorial on how to rotate objects.
As a lot of survival games have a pretty active modding scene, perhaps one day we will see a modder take up the reigns and create a mod that allows items to be rotated. Until then, stay tuned.
