One of our first thoughts when entering the zombie apocalypse will always be common. Where are the guns? from Dawn of the Dead to Left for Dead one of the most important instruments of survival in the new world has been weaponry. If you are to survive as long as you can in Project Zomboid you are going to need to get some weapons. Zombies will not fight fair and neither should you.

How to Find the Gun Store in Project Zomboid
I will preface this short guide by saying this. There are multiple places in Project Zomboid where guns can be found. From police stations, to houses. Bars to garden sheds, you may just find guns through your own searching. There are even many mods that add military bases and other areas similar that may have guns. That being said, one of the best places to stock up on ammo and weapons is the gun store.
The gun store is located in West Point of all places. To begin with, you can check out a guide to the West Point map here. If you have your hands on a map of West Point already, half the work has already been done here. Although the gun store isn’t marked on the map you can find it at the top right. Check out the map in the image above and locate the two buildings at the top right. The gun store is the smaller green building found to the north.
How to Get Into the Gun Store
Once at the gun store and in the front the door, you will realize it is not so easy to get in. There are metal gates guarding the entrance to the gun store on the left side wall and inside the front door. There is generally only one good way to enter the gun store and that is by using the sledgehammer.
Using a Sledgehammer to Get into the Gun Store
In order to get into the gun store in Project Zomboid you will need to find a sledgehammer. As the fence at the front can’t be unlocked or broken down though other means, this will be your way in. Look through industrial buildings. Especially buildings with crates such as warehouses are places where sledgehammers are likely to spawn. Once you have one, head back to the gun store and enter the front door.
Once you have the sledgehammer right click on the wall and select the Destroy option. Now, move your cursor so that the metal fences are highlighted. Be aware that using the sledgehammer is quite loud and if there are enemies in the surrounding are it is likely they will hear you destroying the wall. Boarding up the door behind you is a good idea before you start using the sledgehammer.
That’s all there is to it! you are officially inside of the gun store in Project Zomboid! Be sure to bring a large bag and possibly even a car as there are a lot of places to loot here. you will find weapons in the cabinets and on the shelves as well. Be sure to check the back room behind the counter as well. One of the best places to find a katana is in this back room.
Once thing to be wary of is there are no other entrances or exits to the gun store unless you create one. So make sure there aren’t zombies following you into the gun store or you could find yourself trapped! Voila! That is how your get into the gun store in Project Zomboid.
