Among many of the games materials, you’ll find the green herb. While the method of getting green herb in is fairly straightforward we thought it deserved it’s own little article. We will first go over how to get green herbs and then what they are used for and how to process them.
What is The Green Herb?
The green herb is a small green plant which is used in crafting in Cryofall. The green herb is mainly used in crafting healing products. You can find the herb out in the wild and actually use it straight away as a consumable on your character. It has a healing effect. Consuming the green herb will note have any other effect other than a small boost to your health in Cryofall.
The in-game description for the green herb as seen in the image above reads:
Medicinal herb with unique healing and antibacterial properties. Can be used as-is, but becomes much more potent once properly prepared:
The in-game icon for the green herb just looks like a small green leafy root. The green herb can be found in many of the game’s biomes.
How to Get Green Herb in Cryofall
The green herb is among the easiest resources to obtain in Cryofall. You will need to forage for the green herb. You can find the green herb in just about any of the game’s biomes. As long as you can see grass on the ground, chances are you can find green herb there. Although you might not be able to tell green herb from the rest of the small plants in Cryofall, you will quickly see the difference between them. To get green herb, just walk around int he forest until you see the small leafy green plants as you can see in the image below. Walk up to these and press the right-mouse button.
Unlike the small fiber plants, the green herb will have the action Gather appear on the screen when you mouse-over it. You will have to wait next to the plant for a short amount of time while your character gathers the plant. This is one of the easiest ways you can tell the green herb apart from other plants that can be foraged. You will also notice the in-game model for the green herb is slightly smaller than the other fiber plants. Run around the forest. As long as you are in forest or meadows, you’ll find green herbs. There isn’t any point looking in the barrens. The green herb does not grow there.
Crafting With the Green Herb
Although the green herb can be used on it’s own, you should craft with it. The healing done by using the plant alone is minuscule compared to the things that can be crafted using this plant. One of the first medicines you can craft is the Herbal Remedy. Using a combination of green herb, rustshroom and waterbulb fruit at the cooking table you can create a herbal remedy. These items being relatively easy to forage means that you can easily create a decent healing item.
As you can see in the image above the herbal remedy heals 30% and only requires 2 green herb. Using 2 green herb on their own would only give you a healing effect of 16%. The best part about the herbal remedy is that it completely clears up the nausea effect on your character as well. This will get you fighting fit again! There are a few more recipes that require green herb as a crafting ingredient. For the sake of time I won’t list all of them. I’ll just give you an idea of a couple of the things you can craft;
Anti Mutation Medicine
If your character is exposed to too much radiation there is a chance they can have a mutation effect on them. A mutation can cause them to take more damage from different effects. Take the mutation below for example. From being exposed to too much radiation from a ruins area, my character will take more damage. This means I stand no chance at the ruins without first treating the injury. The anti mutation medicine completely heals this effect.
You can create anti-mutation medicine with the following items at a Cooking table or medical laboratory:
- 10 Green Herb
- 5 Red Herb
- 5 Purple Herb
- 5 Toxin
- 5 Salt
Bandage
Once of the most important early medical items to have on hand. Sometimes when you are in combat with creatures they can scratch you. This may cause your character to bleed. As long as you character is bleeding they will slowly lose health. That is however, unless you patch up the injury with a bandage. You can create a bandage at a medical laboratory by combining 1 green herb with 20 units of fiber.
