Coal is one of the resources you can find and use in Cryofall. Primarily used as a fuel source, coal is also one the materials used in some crafting recipes. To begin with, you may not know where to get coal and how it can be mined. This guide will show you the best location for getting coal and how you can get the most out of coal.
How to Get Coal in Cryofall
The best way to get coal in Cryofall is by mining it from the surface of the planet. You can find coal deposits in three different areas; The Boreal Forest, Rocky Mountains and the Swamp. Go to these areas and look for large black rocks. Use a pickaxe on these rocks and you will receive coal. You can see the map below which shows what the boreal forest area looks like on the map. What Does Coal Look Like and How is it Used?
Whilst you now know where you look for coal I will tell you exactly what you are looking for. Coal, appears much as other resources in the game. you can mine this resource from smaller rock formations found across the map. As you will see in the image below, coal looks like a jagged large black rock. You can use any type of pickaxe to mine the coal in Cryofall, even the stone pickaxe that you can create from the get-go.
As you can probably tell based on coal in real life, the main use of coal is in fueling a fire. You can use coal as the fuel in campfires and cooking stoves. It is one of the best fuel sources in the game. It burns for far longer than regular wood logs of even charcoal. As you can see when you open up the menu of the cooking stove there are 3 different sections; input, output and fuel. If you drag the coal into the fuel area you will use it to burn other products. Keep in mind you will lose the coal so it is advised to use another not-so-important resource instead.
Crafting With Coal
Coal isn’t just used as a fuel source in the game. There are also a lot of important crafting recipes that require coal as a resource. For example one of the first electrical items that you can create is composed of coal. In order to craft a disposable battery in Cryofall you will need to find some raw coal. First, you will have to construct yourself a chemical laboratory and research the required rafting recipes. Then bring you coal, (and some other items), to the laboratory. You can then create the disposable battery.
Obviously this is just one of the items that can be crafted using coal. At this point int he game there is no way of crafting your own coal. There is no way to process any other item into coal either. You will have to mine coal directly from the planet’s surface in order to get any of it. You will also need coal to craft plastic. This is another valuable resource used for crafting.
