What is the Cheat Sword?
The cheat sword is a weapon that deals an absolutely ridiculous amount of damage. The sword is thought to be mainly used as a testing tool or a way for people who really can’t progress through the game but want to be able to destroy just about anything in one hit. In fact, the sword is even strong enough to break up rocks in one swing!
The sword itself has a beautiful rainbow glow to it as the player wields it. It genuinely looks like a cheat sword, completely out of this world. The sword does a whopping 10,000 base slash damage which will be higher or lower depending on your swords level.
How to Get the Cheat Sword
To get the cheat sword you are going to have to use console commands to spawn it in. There is no way of crafting the sword in-game at all.
As of patch 0.148.4 you will need to enable the command console from the launch options for the game. For a guide on how to do this, click here.
First step is to enable cheats via the in-game console. To open up the console press the F5 key on your keyboard. Now, type the phrase ‘devcommands’ and press the enter key. You should see that cheats are now ‘True’.
Once you have enabled cheats you just have to use the right command to spawn in the sword. Once again open up the console but now type the following phrase in:
spawn SwordCheat
The code is case sensitive and you will have to include the spaces. If you wish to spawn more than one you can include a number after the cheat part. (Also with a space in between) Inputting this code will have the item drops in front of you. The item will not move directly into you inventory so be aware that anybody currently near your character may accidently pick up the cheat sword.
Cheat Sword vs Forsaken
For an example of the strength of the cheat sword in Valheim, I had spawned each of the forsaken creatures or boss creatures in the game. Keep in mind that these fights are attempted with a sword level of only 14. This means that the sword isn’t even doing the most amount of damage that it can do. As seen in the image at the top of the page, the damage output during these fights was only 3076 – 6076. A character greater trained in the sword skill will have stronger results.
I will submit a small table below showing how many hits from the cheat sword each forsaken creature took to be defeated. This should give you a rough idea of just how powerful this sword is. (And how powerful the forsaken are too to withstand such attacks.)

Note 1: The Elder is weak against slashing damage.
Note 2: Bonemass is weak against all damage types apart from blunt, but still went down in one hit.
As you can see from the table above, all of the forsaken went down in a couple of hits with the cheat sword. It is indeed a powerful weapon.
Cheat Sword Uses
Players might be wondering what the actual point of the cheat sword is in Valheim. Well there are many different uses for an extremely powerful weapon in Valheim. Sometimes in testing the game you just want to defeat an enemy without any hassle. Using the cheat sword you can destroy any regular enemy in one hit.
Perhaps you are the admin of the server and need to quickly keep other players in check. On of the good uses for the sword is that you can break down structures easily. Not only structures, but it will also take down trees in one hit, along with a lot of other breakable minerals in the game.
Lastly, you might just want to cheat in the game. Valheim is a difficult game, if you want to have an extremely powerful sword just so you can go through the game and defeat and collect everything we won’t judge!
