How to Get Carrot Seeds in Valheim

Farming is an activity that one can do in the Viking game of Valheim. You can cultivate trees and crops. One of the crops you can grow for yourself is the carrot but to begin growing carrots you’ll have to find your own carrot seeds in the wild. To get carrot seeds you will have to go into the black forest and look for three white flowers sticking up out of the soil. Interact with this plant and you will earn yourself three carrot seeds.

What are Carrot Seeds?

This one is pretty obvious. Carrot seeds are exactly the same as in real life. In Valheim you can plant your carrot seeds to grow your very own carrots in Valheim. You will need to eat to survive this harsh environment and what better way than to become a self-sustaining farmer?

Where do I find Carrot Seeds in Valheim?

Carrot seeds can only be found in specific biomes. In Valheim every map is procedurally generated and every world is completely different based on the series of letters and numbers known as the world seed. (Haha seed). In saying this, I cannot give you a guide to an exact spot on your map where you can find carrot seeds. I can, however, guide you in the right direction to help you find them!

Carrot seeds are found in the Black Forest biome in Valheim. They have a random chance to spawn in the ground. They are only found on the forest floor.

Look out for a cluster of three white flowers growing together. You will able to pretty easily differentiate it from other things on the forest floor as it is pretty white. They are easy enough to miss however as the flowers and storks are kind of thin. Check out the image above to see what Carrot Seed plants look like.

One you have found the carrot flowers in the Black Forest interact with them by using the E key by default. Your character should pick up around 3 seeds. Make sure you have an inventory slot free. You won’t need too much weight as they are really not heavy at all.

Carrot seeds have a random chance to spawn in the Black Forest so you will just have to keep searching around until you get lucky.

How to Use/Plant Carrot Seeds

Carrot Seeds literally only have one purpose in Valheim. They can only be planted in order to yield carrots to eat. Carrots Seeds aren’t used in any crafting recipes and cannot be eaten in their raw state.

You won’t be able to get a cultivator until a few hours into the game. To make a cultivator you will need to first can copper and tin together to make Bronze. You can click on the links on this page to find out how to get these items.

There isn’t too much to farming carrots other than planting carrot seeds with the cultivator and waiting. You can check out my guide to farming in Valheim here.
